Let’s face it, the month of January offers little apart from the fact that it’s the perfect time to put on a pair of women’s sleepwear. It doesn’t have to be silk-like -crepe de chine or satin. Even just a tiny bit of polyester is fine.

The most important thing is that they must glide and slither over their body and body parts in a delightful and some might even say unpractical manner. But anyone who would make that claim will be missing the purpose.

Silk pajamas are a fashion statement and the reason why they have gained popularity over the years is that with their weighty seamless, slippery feel and floating hems, they’re a piece of clothing that takes us away from the monotony.

What else could you want from a piece of clothing that’s primary function is lounging and relaxation? Particularly, in the present, when occasions to dress in a suit to go out are few and far between. In silk pajamas or a suit, you can dress for a night in.

It’s pretty easy to conclude that pajamas, no matter how luxurious the fabric or exotic the pattern have that same glaring sexuality, which is a result of traffic light underwear. An unflattering shirt and pants even when they’re silked aren’t always striking as strongly in the blood-red man as other clothes that show more might. However, this doesn’t mean all men hate them.

There’s no doubt that I’ve got a hankering for the crazy glam of a feather-trimmed pair of Sleepers and I’m imagining a luxuriously patterned set by Olivia von Halle, the supreme of luxury PJs.

However, for the moment I’m in awe of the pair my friend gifted me recently, from the more budget-friendly fashion catalog Patra. They are in a flattering blush-colored cream with fine pink silk trim, and they are lightweight, but not even remotely transparent, loose but not bulky.

I’ve been enjoying my time around the house wearing them in recent months, a little displeased when I’m forced to exchange them for more appropriate clothing.

And they’re the best pair I’ve ever owned for sleeping in and then waking up uncreased to start the day, like the majority of me.
